The Capulets Downfall In William Shakespeares tragedy Romeo and Juliet, Capulet and Lady Capulet, Juliets own father and mother, are the people primarily responsible for the star-crossed lovers tragic end. In the play Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare tells a story about two star crossed lovers who try to stay together but every time things start to look good for Romeo and Juliet something horrible happens. The two families of Romeo and Juliet have quarreled for generations. When Romeo and Juliet meet at the Capulet’s party and learn the identity of each other, they knew that they could never be together. However, they go against their doubts and stay together, going behind their parents backs, which could only lead to future problems. Juliets parents are to blame for the fate and death of Romeo and Juliet because they think their familys honor is more important than Juliets happiness, their hatred against the other family, and their indecisiveness. Juliet’s parents are to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet because they put their family’s honor in front of Juliet’s happiness, if they would have supported Juliet and listened to her feelings then Romeo and Juliet’s deaths could have been avoided. Initially, Lady Capulet had told Juliet that she was going to marry Paris, but when Juliet tells her no, Lord Capulet’s response was harsh. He said, â€Å"you shall not house with me† (III.V.90).
